This slipmat is also a phenakistoscope, an early animation device that creates the illusion of a moving picture when a camera's shutter blurs its rotation.
The rings of dogs on the disc will appear to dance in place at 33, 45, & 78RPM. Use the turntable’s pitch control to “play” the design!
To view the illusion, watch the spinning disc through your camera phone. Different rings appear at all three speeds, so try them all! Detailed viewing instructions here.
