Selected Work

Here are a few recent favorite projects I’ve worked on.

Barneys NY #thedropLA Animated Records

A set of 16 print designs & 6 videos to promote Barneys' thedropLA event in Beverly Hills, including the announcement of their special musical guest, the Wu-tang Clan.

L’Orange “The Everyday Illusion” Music Video

A music video for hip-hop producer L’Orange. All animation effects were created in-camera using the phenakistoscope technique.

I also provided art for the label stickers on the vinyl release of the album. You can see video of the LP in motion here.

Want to recreate the magic at home? Download a PDF of the phenakistoscopes here.

Lucius’ “Eventually” Video

A phenakistoscope insert for the deluxe edition of Lucius’ NUDES LP.

Midland “On the Rocks” Animated Records

A series of “Animated Records” to accompany songs on Midland‘s Grammy-nominated album On the Rocks. The resulting videos have had over 870,000 plays.

Special Re:Quest Phenakistoscopes

I worked with LA plunderphonic beat maestro Daedelus to create a suite of phenakistoscopes for his song “Special Re:Quest”. The 14 resulting wooden discs with over 70 laser-engraved loops came together in the video for a bespoke analog animated hootenanny.

We wanted to pull back the curtain on the process by offering a free zine of the animated discs for those curious enough to try it at home. Please click here to download all 14 discs as a PDF.

I also shot a single take bootleg with the printed discs to prove that the video can be performed as an unbroken routine, check that out here!

Read a short write-up about the video on The Creators Project here.
